Santa Clarita’s favorite nightlife events continue this October as with the City’s Thursdays @ Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru. The free events will be held on Main Street in Old Town Newhall on the first, second, and third Thursday of the month and will feature new themes for Art SLAM on October 2, JAM Sessions on October 9, and SENSES on October 16.

On Thursday, October 2, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Art SLAM will evoke the spirit of Halloween with exhibitions featuring The Art of Scare. Getting residents in the mood for spooky Fall nights will be artist Leah N. Olbrich with her display of whimsical creatures made with non-traditional art materials, Nelson Cooper with his fantasy and dark-themed monster masks, Steph Darling’s display of zombie art, photography by Tiffany Luptak, and Johnny Hate’s bone and taxidermy sculptures.

Art SLAM will also feature non-stop silent film horror shorts presented by RetroFormat on a vintage projector with piano accompaniment. Also on the agenda is a special effects make-up demonstration by Jennifer from Marigold Studio Salon, live “lip pointillism” with TAG Fatale, and a live painting by Jesse Madden. A “Post Mortem Boutique” by Sleeping with a Dead Girl, Traci Pascual, and Roxanne Zidell will sell a variety of edgy, girly accessories and visual art. The Go Fusion N Grill food truck will serve a mixture of American, Hispanic, and Asian food while residents take in the variety of scare-themed art.

Thursdays @ Newhall continues on October 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the interactive, family-focused, musical movement JAM Sessions featuring renowned Iranian dancer Banafsheh. The free night will include an educational look into Middle Eastern Dance. This session is presented in partnership with the Ford Theatre Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation and the City of Santa Clarita. To learn more, visit

The mysterious theme will bring Halloween to Downtown Newhall, focusing on the E.T. experience of the infamous military base.
