“Headspace” Minimal Expressionist Exhibit by Tyler Scully on Display at The MAIN in December
Art Reception to Be Held at The MAIN on Thursday, December 21
Beginning Monday, December 4, 2017, the gallery in The MAIN will feature a new solo exhibit of minimal expressionist paintings through the month of December called “Headspace,” by artist Tyler Scully. The exhibit will feature oil paintings focusing on the concept of disconnection, specifically how overuse of digital communications and social media tools have replaced personal connections and created a detachment in society. The gallery is free to visit Tuesday through Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is located in The MAIN at 24266 Main Street in Newhall.
“Headspace is a look into a deconstruction of the face. The subjects are pulled from my social media feeds and I focus on my feeling towards the subject, often time reconstructing repeating aspects in the face and the environment,” says Tyler. To create his pieces, Tyler uses multiple layers of impasto and wet on wet techniques, creating a sculptural component to his oil paintings. “In my work I want to show the growing disconnection of the hyper connected digital world,” he adds.
Residents are invited to attend a free art reception on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Participants will enjoy light appetizers, entertainment and a chance to meet the artist.
