- NOTICE: Building & Safety Counter will be CLOSED August 11, between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm.
- NOTICE: Fuel Modification services at Santa Clarita City Hall have been temporarily suspended due to lack of demand from the development community. Fuel modification services will continue to be provided at the Azusa office of the L.A. County Fire Department, Forestry Division. Customers with Fuel Modification inquiries should contact Forestry_FB@lacofd.org.
- NOTICE: City fees to increase effective October 1, 2010
- NOTICE: Construction Permit Placard Effective immediately, permits issued through Building & Safety will receive a 12x18 placard that must be placed prominently at the primary entrance to the work site or in a prominent location visible to the public. - NOTICE: AB1953 Requirements for Lead Content in Plumbing Fixtures, Fittings, and Piping Effective January 1, 2010, plumbing fixtures or fittings intended to dispense water that may be used for human consumption, which contains more than 0.25% lead, are not permitted to be sold or installed anywhere within the State of California. Please see the attached handout for additional information.

- NOTICE: New EPA regulations to "Renovate, Repair and Paint" existing buildings become effective April 1, 2010.

- NOTICE: New Special Inspection Certification Program Effective January 1, 2010, all new and current special inspectors who wish to perform special inspections in the City of Santa Clarita are required to certify under the City's mandatory certification program for special inspectors. The certification program is intended to ensure special inspectors meet the certification and special inspection requirements of the current California Building Code. Applications for certification will be processed beginning November 5, 2009, and special inspectors must apply in person at the Building & Safety counter during normal business hours. Please bring current certifications, a valid ID, and the completed application packet along with a $23.00 ($75.00 beginning January 1, 2010) certification processing fee. - NOTICE: Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which came into effect on January 26, 1992, is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday activities. All businesses, even those that do not serve the public, must comply with these federal ADA Standards regardless of whether the building is/is not being remodeled, renovated, or altered. New buildings and existing buildings that are being remodeled, renovated, or altered must also comply with the state accessibility requirements in addition to the federal ADA Standards. The City of Santa Clarita only enforces the state accessibility requirements. The federal ADA Standards are enforced by the Department of Justice.
