In celebration of the holiday season, and to create a joyful holiday setting in Old Town Newhall, the City of Santa Clarita presents a ‘Holiday Window Painting Contest.’ The City of Santa Clarita encourages children (6 or more) to participate on Friday, December 5, 2008, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm to Paint the Town. Old Town Newhall businesses have proudly donated their front windows to create a holiday tradition that captures the imagination of young artists. There are a limited number of window spaces available, applications processed on a first come, first served basis. Each of the storefronts participating in Paint the Town will be judged based on the following criteria: originality, creativity, and overall theme. Judges will choose one winner for each category: Most Inspirational, Most Holiday Spirit, Most Original, Most Creative, Most Comical, Best Group, and Best Overall. Awards will be announced at 10:30 am, on Saturday, December 6, at the Literacy and Arts Festival located in Hart Park, event hours are from 10 am to 4 pm.
