What is CHAMPS?
CHAMPS is a free boxing program for at-risk youth ages 14-19 that develops character, courage, and self-discipline. Experienced coaches teach basic boxing mechanics including stance, footwork, punching combinations, and sparring. Trained outreach staff provide resources and support to participants to assist them with their education, life skills, leadership, employability and emotional health.
WHO does this program serve?
The program was designed for struggling teens who need a new direction in life (i.e. recovering from addiction, on probation, in the DCFS or foster care system, have academic difficulties, graffiti vandals, behavioral issues, have gang affiliation or potential, or are hanging out with the wrong crowd).
HOW do YOU join?
Call Cynthia Llerenas at (661) 286-4006 to get more information. Cynthia will explain the program and will ask you to fill out and bring the membership form in order to participate.
Do you know SOMEONE who can benefit from the program?
Please invite youth to attend and have them bring the membership form signed by a parent. 18 years and older do not require a parent signature but are still required to fill out the form. For more information call Cynthia Llerenas at (661) 286-4006.
