Boxing

 

The Newhall Community Center Boxing program gives youth and adults alike an opportunity to learn and develop boxing skills and improve overall fitness in a non-competitive setting.  It also provides a positive outlet, a boost in self-esteem, and increased discipline and self-control.

Youth – Boxing Fitness for youth, ages 8 to 17
Youth will learn basic boxing skills and conditioning exercises. Lessons will incorporate a variety of bodyweight and strength conditioning exercises along with cardiovascular and stretching related activities that will improve overall physical conditioning. Classes are offered over an eight-week session on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.   Free to residents ($5 NR).

Youth– Boxing Introduction for youth, ages 8 to 17
Learn the basics of boxing mechanics including skill and technique development, circuit training, and drills. Instructor will teach the basic stance, footwork, punching combinations and how to properly use boxing equipment such as pads and bags. Classes are offered over an eight week session on Tuesday and Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Cost is $20 ($25 NR) Participants must provide their own equipment, which may include hand-wraps and gloves.

Adult – Boxing Fitness 
Learn fundamental boxing techniques and improve overall fitness while burning calories.  Lessons will incorporate a variety of bodyweight and strength conditioning exercises along with cardiovascular and stretching related activities that will improve overall physical conditioning. Classes are offered over an eight week session on Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  Cost is $28 ($33 NR).

Adult – Boxing Introduction

Classes are offered over an eight-week session on Tuesday and Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Cost is $28 ($33 NR).

 


Registration

Registration for programs at the Newhall Community Center can be done online or in person.  The City utilizes an online recreation management program, Rec1, for City registration. Please click on one of the Rec1 buttons below to either create an online account, or login and register.
