Old Town Newhall transforms from a bustling retail and dining destination by day, to a thriving Arts and Entertainment District by night, as the City of Santa Clarita hosts the Thursdays@Newhall series, presented by Galpin Subaru. Enjoy free weekly entertainment and nightlife on Main Street every Thursday evening with a weekly rotation of JAM Sessions interactive dance demo, Revved Up car show, SENSES block party, 10 by 10 theatrical variety night, Note by Note songwriters night, The ARTree 2016 speakers series, and the SCVTV presents OutWest concert series.

The City of Santa Clarita is celebrating Youth Art Month by hosting the 2016 Youth Art Showcase on Saturday, March 26, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, located at The Centre. The free event gives students in the Santa Clarita Valley an opportunity to showcase their talent by performing or displaying their art for the community. Each school district will highlight their visual artists and performing artists, local dance studios will lead participatory movement and dance classes, student artists will display their street painting masterpieces and local art studios will give interactive art demonstrations.

Let the hunt begin! Santa Clarita is holding its popular free egg hunt events happening this Saturday, March 26, at the Central Park and Santa Clarita Aquatics Center. Both egg hunts are open to kids 10 & under. The Egg Scramble Egg Hunt at the City’s annual Eggstravaganza will take place Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m. at Central Park. The event is free and open to the public.
Bring your egg basket and swim trunks to the pool party at the 8th Annual Splash and Dash Egg Hunt! on Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m. at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. The event is free to attend, but participants are encouraged to bring a canned or non-perishable food donation to benefit the SCV Food Pantry.

This family-friendly community event will feature an interactive art project with the ARTree, live music from Mariachi Rey de America, performances from Ballet Folklorico, authentic food and activities for the entire family. The City of Santa Clarita’s Earth Arbor Day celebration, presented by the SCV Family of Water Suppliers on Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Central Park is an event that is held in conjunction with the worldwide Earth Day efforts of improving environmental awareness and taking care of the planet. Tickets are now on sale for the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, set for April 20 - 24, 2016 in Old Town Newhall. For more than 23 years, this community event has rounded up visitors from across the United States and beyond to experience the best in Cowboy music and attractions. The 2016 Cowboy Festival will feature more performances and activities than ever before, in Old Town Newhall, providing a unique glimpse into Santa Clarita’s own Wild West past.

Representing the Western United States among the long list of worldwide locations, the Wing for Life run takes place in the heart of Santa Clarita on Sunday, May 8. The World Run begins at 4 AM allowing runners to enjoy an exciting start under the lights until the catcher car, initially going just under 10 mph, passes the participant marking their personal finish line as the sun rises.

Beginning on May 15, 2016, the world’s most accomplished cyclists will compete in the 2016 Amgen Tour of California, a Tour de France-style cycling road race created and presented by AEG. Cyclists will make their way from the heart of San Diego to Sacramento over the course of eight days across nearly 800 miles of California’s most beautiful terrain.
The City of Santa Clarita will host the Stage 2 Finish for the 2016 Amgen Tour of California on Monday, May 16, 2016. Stage 2 will begin in new host city South Pasadena and travel 92 miles to the finish in Santa Clarita.

The City of Santa Clarita’s popular summer Concerts in the Park, presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, is back for a 27th year with an eclectic line-up of all-new acts, including award-winning tribute bands highlighting some of the greats. The free, annual concert series kicks off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.

The City of Santa Clarita will be hosting the Summer Bash in Canyon Country, on Friday, July 29 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm on Luther Drive. Summer Bash will transform Luther Drive into a family-friendly block party experience complete with a live music, food trucks, beer garden, and fun family activities. Entrance to the event is free.

Cool off this summer and make a splash with a family Dive-In-Movie night in a unique outdoor setting. The City of Santa Clarita’s 2016 Dive-In Movie series allows residents to relax poolside at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center while enjoying their favorite PG-rated films. For just $7.00 per person, families can settle in for a Friday night at the cinema under the stars from the comfort of a poolside lounge chair or even the pool itself. All Dive-In Movies start at 7:00 p.m. with this year’s lineup to be announced.

Come help clean a portion of the Santa Clara River… the longest free-flowing river and one of the last two natural river systems remaining in Southern California at the annual River Rally on Saturday, September 17, starting at 8:00 am . Be a part of the solution for a better environment by helping to preserve the river’s natural beauty and variety of wildlife. To date, thousands of volunteers have collected over 410,000 pounds of trash and debris from the Santa Clara River and its tributaries! Pre-Registration will be required through the web-based volunteer registration system.

The 9th Annual Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest and Spooky Family Fair will be held on Saturday, October 22, beginning at 6:00 pm at the Santa Clarita Aquatics Center. Watch certified SCUBA dive teams create underwater masterpieces in the depths of the Aquatics diving pool at 6:00 p.m. and enjoy crafts, games and trick or treating around the pool. An underwater camera will capture all the action so spectators can watch the dive teams’ progress live on a big screen while participating in various festive activities. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in Halloween costumes.

The Santa Clarita Marathon, an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, will test the physical boundaries of the human body on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Race day includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5K run, Mayor’s Walk, and a Kid K run. All races begin at 7:00 am, with the exception of the Kid K, which will begin at 8:30 a.m.

On Friday, November 11 at 11:00 am, the City of Santa Clarita and the Veterans’ Historical Committee, the SCV Chapter 91 Blue Star Moms, Blue Star Moms of the Canyons Chapter 82, Prayer Angels for the Military, and the Knights of Columbus will honors Veterans and individuals serving in the military and their families at Veterans Day Ceremony. In honor of our veterans and our currently-serving military and their families, you are invited to a ceremony featuring musical performers, speakers, and changing of the flags at the Veterans Historical Plaza.

The event is a holiday shopping tradition for many residents who enjoy perusing booths for hand-crafted, unique gift items. The Fine Craft Show will once again be held at Old Orchard Park, located at 25023 Avenida Rotella.
The FREE, outdoor event allows residents to browse one-of-a-kind art pieces, including intricate and colorful hand-crafted jewelry, beautiful paintings, pottery, woodwork, ceramics and other items perfect for the holiday season.

The City of Santa Clarita invites residents to spend some time in Old Town Newhall to kick off the holiday season. Light Up Main Street celebration in Old Town Newhall happens on Saturday, November 19, beginning at 6:00 p.m. with festive dance and music performances from local groups. The Santa Clarita City Council will officially turn on the lights around 7:00 pm to transform Main Street into a winter wonderland. The street will be adorned with thousands of lights and a 23-foot Christmas tree in front of the Old Town Newhall Library will serve as an anchor to the festive street.
