The City of Santa Clarita:
BILL OF RIGHTS

Did you know that the City adopted its own bill of rights on December 17, 1988, following just one year of cityhood?  Here is what it says:

The City of Santa Clarita was founded on some of the same principles as the Bill of Rights.  In full recognition and affirmation of the constitution of the United Sates, these adopted principles include:

Local control, local elections, and local services for the full benefit of its residents;

A thriving economy with local taxes being used for the good of the people of Santa Clarita;

Local home rule, sensitive to its people’s social, economic and environmental needs;

Local government leadership that will keep the community well-informed about detrimental, hazardous-producing or environmentally suspect events;

Protection of the City’s natural resources and historic treasures;

Protection of the citizen’s lives, property, safety and well being.
