Local Television Service Providers

Up-to-the-minute News:

The Department of Administrative Services provides customer service support to City residents who subscribe to either Time Warner Cable or AT&T UVerse for television video services.  Questions or customer service support needs related to Time Warner or AT&T television video service can be addressed by contacting the City at (661) 286-4070 or by email at ktonoian@santa-clarita.com.

Effective January 1, 2008, Time Warner Cable entered into a franchise agreement with the State of California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) and is no longer franchised by the City.  Santa Clarita continues to maintain a Public Benefits Agreement with AT&T to provide television video services in the City. This Public Benefit Agreement document can be accessed by clicking here.

The information below provides residents with a comprehensive overview of all current television video service providers. The Santa Clarita City Council values the availability of competitive services and believes that residents benefit when they can choose among several competing television video service providers. To increase local competition in July of 2006, the City Council executed a Public Benefits Agreement with AT&T that allows AT&T to provide competitive television services for residents. AT&T is currently offering television services to approximately 70% of Santa Clarita.  To determine if your home is located in an existing service area, please click here.

State and federal laws provide oversight of the cable and telecommunications industry. While the City of Santa Clarita continues to respond to every community inquiry that we receive, it is important for residents to understand the extent of the City's authority. Under current state and federal law, the City does not have any legal ability to dictate what television video service providers charge for their services, or how they set their channel line up. In fact, as currently written, federal law allows all providers to operate in a deregulated manner when it comes to issues concerning pricing or channel line up.
