Handy Worker Program

This program is managed by the Santa Clarita Senior Center and helps low- and moderate-income residents repair their homes with grants for work not to exceed $2,500. Click here to see current income restrictions. Grant applicants must call the Senior Center for an application. No bids are necessary. All work is performed or contracted by the Senior Center. Residential Rehabilitation Program

This is a city managed program that helps low- and moderate- income city residents make repairs to their homes. Click here to see current income restrictions. The total amount of work cannot exceed $5,000. Please see the chart below for typical allowable repairs. All applicants must complete an application, provide income documentation, and 3 bids for work desired. Applicants must be willing and able to manage the repair process with the contractor. Typical allowable repairs for the Residential Rehabilitation and Handy Worker programs

• Roofing repair and/or replacement
• Electrical and plumbing repairs
• Heating and air conditioning repairs (except window units)
• Modifications for disabled access
• Flooring/tile/wall repairs
• Repairs needed to fix municipal code violations
• Exterior painting*

*For painting on homes built prior to 1978 lead based paint testing is required before any bids can be submitted.

Property Rehabilitation
