New Street Sweeping Schedule
The City of Santa Clarita will start a new street sweeping schedule beginning July 1, 2009. The streamlined schedule will last four years and save the City approximately $170,000, while ensuring that residents receive optimal sweeping services.

Beginning July 1, all City streets will be swept once per month in the summer and once per week in the fall. The City’s trail system will be swept once per week, and all City-owned or leased parking lots with 25 or more parking spaces will be swept once per month.

“The new street sweeping contract was secured through the City’s open competitive bid process and reduces sweeping costs from $732,500 to $562,224,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “With this new contract, the City can significantly reduce costs while continuing to provide residents with necessary and efficient street sweeping services.”

The new contract also allows for 24 street sweeping projects to be conducted free of charge. These projects will include special events, accidents, spills and activities that will make street sweeping necessary on days when it would not be needed otherwise. All main arterial streets, such as Soledad Canyon Road, McBean Parkway, Newhall Avenue, Golden Valley Road and more, will be swept once weekly, with all medians swept once per month.

Residents looking to find out when their streets will be swept may contact the Environmental Services Division at (661) 286-4098 or visit the City’s website at santa-clarita.com.
