MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER
Ken Pulskamp
September 2004
Dear Santa Clarita Residents:
It is unbelievable how fast time flies…The summer is nearing its end and the year is more
than two-thirds over. I hope you all have enjoyed your vacations and are looking forward
to the remainder of the year. We sure are at City Hall! There are so many awesome
projects that are set to begin and others soon to be completed and we are working hard to
make sure they are. I would like to share just a few of these exciting projects with you.
We are all concerned with the traffic in our City and I am very pleased to share that
construction of the Bouquet Canyon bridge widening project has begun. Upon
completion of the project, the bridge will be expanded by two lanes and provide great
traffic relief along this main corridor of travel. Inevitably, the construction schedule will
cause traffic delays. I ask that we all be patient and understanding, knowing that the
investment will definitely be worth the return.
River Rally is here again. On September, 25, 2004, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon, the
Environmental Services Division will host the 10th Annual River Rally. This year’s event
will be located off Wiley Canyon Road, near the Wiley Canyon Bridge just east of
Orchard Village Road. For those of you who have participated in the past you know that
the personal time and effort put into the event is quite beneficial. It is so beneficial that
last year we collected over 34 tons of waste, a record high. I hope you and your family
will come out, show your support and enjoy the day at this year’s River Rally.
Some of you may have noticed the new bus stop posters, “Keep Santa Clarita Beautiful.”
The posters are intended to be a friendly reminder to all residents that if we individually
do our part and place litter where it belongs, we can collectively demonstrate the pride we
have in our community. I encourage you to spread the word and make it your personal
responsibility to keep the City clean. Let’s work together to maintain the quality of life
we all enjoy and let’s make sure we teach our kids to never litter.
For more information on “What’s New” at the City and to learn more about the many
upcoming events, please visit the City’s website at www.santa-clarita.com. And as
always, you can contact me via email at kpulskamp@santa-clarita.com.
Enjoy the rest of the summer, stay cool and be safe!
Sincerely,
Ken Pulskamp
City Manager
