SEPTEMBER BROADCAST FROM KEN PULSKAMP

Greetings!

I hope you have enjoyed these warm summer months and have had the opportunity for plenty of relaxation and recreation. I want to share a few things with you that are going on around the City this month.

Please join us on Saturday, September 6, for the Grand Opening of the first Sand Canyon Trail. The dedication event will be held at 10 a.m. at Sand Canyon and Valley Ranch Road. This marks the start of a trail network for Sand Canyon that will provide an off-street trail for both equestrians and pedestrians.

On Friday, September 12, at 10 a.m., the City will break ground for its new Transit Maintenance Facility. Located in the Rye Canyon Industrial Center, the new facility will allow the City to house, clean, maintain and fuel its fleet of buses under one roof, saving up to $1 million annually. The facility is intended to be a high quality project that will be environmentally sensitive by using state of the art energy efficiency and sustainable building methods. Join us for the official groundbreaking of this new facility on September 12!

Plan to attend the official grand opening of the new Sierra Vista Boys and Girls Club located at Sierra Vista Junior High School on Saturday, September 13, at 9 a.m. This new facility is incredible and provides a win-win for the Boys and Girls Club, the William S. Hart School District and the City. Through a collaborative partnership that included assistance from Congressman McKeon, the youth in our Valley will be offered much-needed recreation and educational opportunities in a state-of-the-art facility. A first-class gymnasium, high-tech computer lab and comfortable teen area highlight the new Boys and Girls Club. You won’t want to miss this Grand Opening event!

Are you looking for an opportunity to provide service to Santa Clarita? On September 20, the City will once again host River Rally from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lost Canyon Road near Canyon Country Park. This outdoor event offers a great volunteer opportunity for families, scout troops and neighborhoods to help keep our community clean. For more information, contact the City’s Environmental Services Department at 661/284-1422.

As you can see, September will be a busy month! I hope to see you at one or all of these events. Remember, you can reach me for comments or questions here at City Hall via email at kpulskamp@santa-clarita.com or by phone at 661/255-4905.

Best Regards,

Ken Pulskamp,
