MESSAGE FROM THE CITY MANAGER KEN PULSKAMP
This month we will be launching a new community meeting program called
“Milk and Cookies with the Mayor.” The program offers residents an
opportunity to meet with city officials at different communities throughout the
City. Held conveniently in the early evening hours at park sites and other public
locations, the program is a great opportunity for residents to discuss their ideas
and suggestions for city programs and services. “Milk and Cookies with the
Mayor” meetings will be led by our Mayor Smyth and City Council. The first one
will be held on Wednesday, February 26, at 7 p.m. at City Hall, Century Room,
23920 Valencia Boulevard. Check out our website for a complete listing of
programs (www.santa-clarita.com).
In January we celebrated the first grand opening of the year with the Grand
Opening of Central Park, Phase 2. This new phase adds 40 more acres to
Central Park, bringing four new playing fields, three full basketball courts and
new restroom facilities. The four new fields will go a long way towards providing
much-needed playing field space for organized sports in our community.
Early this spring, we will be celebrating another grand opening. The new fiveacre
Oak Spring Canyon Park will open on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 10 a.m.
This neighborhood park features a children’s play area, a covered picnic area,
restrooms, a climbing rock and a beautiful tree with seating around it. We hope
that you and your family will be able to attend the grand opening event this
spring!
We have a lot going on this year so keep yourself up-to-date by checking in
regularly on our website and by reading these monthly letters. Thank you for
your continued interest in our City. As always, I am available via email at
kpulskamp@santa-clarita.com or by phone at 661/255-4900.
Best Regards,
Ken Pulskamp
