Greetings! I hope you are enjoying your 2007. Over here at City Hall, things are very busy and also very exciting!

This month, we are getting ready for the Amgen Tour of California, professional bicycle race, which will come to Santa Clarita on Saturday, February 24, 2007. The world's top professional cycling teams will race through the streets of Santa Clarita as they finish Stage 6 of the Amgen Tour of California. This eight day, 650 mile race actually begins in San Francisco with stops in Sausalito, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Stockton, San Jose, Seaside, San Luis Obispo, Solvang and Santa Barbara, before coming to our City. If you've never seen a professional bicycle race, I encourage you and your family to witness this amazing event. The City is hosting several pre and post race events and activities for our community. Believe it or not, it's actually Cowboy Festival time here in Santa Clarita! The City's 14th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival will once again welcome western musicians, entertainers, poets and handcrafters at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio in the heart of Santa Clarita. The 2007 line-up is one of the best, featuring cowboy comedian Baxter Black, cowboy crooner Don Edwards, musicians Sons of the San Joaquin, Cowboy Celtic, Wiley and the Wild West, and returning to Melody Ranch, is master horseman and trick roper, Benny Martinez. This year, the City will have a multitude of new projects and programs, benefiting our residents, our business community and those who like to visit Santa Clarita. Look for information forthcoming about our new Enterprise Zone, updates on Newhall Revitalization, new fire stations, completion of the 32-acre Todd Longshore Park in Canyon Country, completion of the next phase of the Cross Valley Connector road, linking I-5/126 with Copperhill/Rye Canyon Road, and much more.
