CITY EMPLOYEE HONORED BY HISPANIC BUSINESS COMMITTEE

The Hispanic Business Committee (HBC) of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce recognized City employee Cynthia Llerenas with the "Amistad Award - Community Leader of the Year" award at the 4th Annual Excelencia Gala on Friday, September 7th at the Hyatt Valencia

The event, which recognizes leaders in the business community along with the scholarship recipients, honored Llerenas for her outstanding work with youth and families of Santa Clarita, specifically to the Latino population of Santa Clarita.

For almost ten years, Cynthia has assisted youth with finding employment, getting out of gangs and finding the resources needed to be successful. She supervises the Anti-Gang Task Force Youth Programs, Graffiti Removal Programs, Youth Employment Services Program, Santa Clarita Community Court Program, and provides resources to at-risk teens, young adults, ex-offenders, and gang-affiliated teens in crisis.
