The City of Santa Clarita’s Economic Development Division received three awards for outstanding marketing efforts from the prestigious International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The awards were presented at the organization’s annual conference on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Economic Development Division's Retail Compact Disc won an award in the General Purpose Promotion category for organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000. The disc is an interactive tool designed to outreach to business owners, investors, brokers, and developers to attract new commercial businesses and showcase the City’s abundant retail opportunities and upscale lifestyle.
"Economic development efforts have always played a vital role in shoring up the nation's economy, one locality at a time," said Ronnie L. Bryant, IEDC chairman. "The award serves as a salute to pacesetting entities like the City of Santa Clarita for leading the charge."
Additionally, the Economic Development Division's quarterly newsletters, "Successful Connections - Helping Businesses Thrive," and the Film Office's "Film City of Santa Clarita" were awarded Honorable Mention certificates. Both newsletters are designed to inform and retain existing businesses, while also highlighting the City’s distinct offerings to attract new businesses to the community.
“The interactive disk and newsletters have played a significant role in marketing Santa Clarita as a premier Southern California city,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean. “It is gratifying to receive recognition for three very unique aspects of the Economic Development Division’s marketing campaign.”
