POW/MIA FLAG TO FLY IN FRONT OF CITY HALL IN HONOR OF NATIONAL POW/MIA DAY

In support of National Prisoners POW/MIA Recognition Day, the City of Santa Clarita will fly the National League of Families POW/MIA flag in front of City Hall on Friday, September 21, 2007.

The day pays tribute to the service men and women who have been prisoners of war and those who are missing in action. The POW/MIA flag is flown daily in front of the City’s Veteran’s Memorial Plaza.

“The City recognizes the extreme sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces and their families,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “The POW/MIA flag is a significant symbol of our country’s resolve to never forget those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”

Congress has set aside the third Friday of September in each year as National POW/MIA Recognition Day. On this day the flag is flown over the White House, the Capitol, the Departments of State, Defense and Veterans Affairs, and other locations across the country.
