PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Community Members Encouraged to Get Sandbags to Prepare for Rain

On Thursday, December 6, through Saturday, December 8, the Santa Clarita Valley is forecasted to receive two to three inches of rain and officials are encouraging residents to stock up on sandbags.

After fires, mudslides are a big concern because the land has been stripped of the vegetation that soaks up rain leaving it susceptible to excessive runoff and erosion. All Los Angeles County Fire stations in the Santa Clarita Valley now have unfilled sandbags available for residents. Fire stations do not have sand. Residents can get a maximum of 25 sandbags per visit.

Residents may purchase sand from Home Depot or pickup sand free of charge at Curtis Sand and Gravel, located at 14320 Soledad Canyon. Residents must bring a shovel and sandbags to receive sand.
