CALLING ALL DOGS!
Come for the Doggie Treats – Stay for the Park!

Attention all Santa Clarita dogs! This Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 10 a.m., the City of Santa Clarita will host a brief ribbon cutting event, celebrating the grand opening of Central Bark, the City’s first dog park, located at Central Park.

The 1.3 acre doggie park is located near the back of Central Park, at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, adjacent to the multi-use fields. The new off-leash dog park has a designated area for small dogs and a separate area for larger dogs. The hours are from dawn to dusk.

The off-leash dog park came about in response to hundreds of requests received over the years by the City from area dog-lovers. This new off-leash dog park is to be an interim dog park site until the City's permanent dog park is constructed at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. The City plans to have the permanent dog park opened in late 2009.

The ribbon cutting event will include brief comments from Mayor (and the City’s top dog) Bob Kellar, as well as doggies treats from Santa’s antlered helpers for all of the good doggies.

“We opened the park last week and already we’re seeing a great deal of doggie visitors and their owners at the park,” commented Rick Gould, the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director.

The ribbon cutting event is free and open to the public; no reservations are required.
