CITY NOW OFFERS NEW AUTOMATED INFORMATION FEED ON WEB

This week, the City of Santa Clarita launched its new RSS (Real Simple Syndication) feed, a format that contains frequently updated content and stories from a web site.

RSS is a popular technology for notifying users of updates to content in a web site, blog, or Internet television channel. It offers the ability for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner, rather than checking them manually.

The City of Santa Clarita is now offering RSS feeds for City press releases and available City jobs, with more categories on the way. The RSS content can be read using an RSS reader software such as Google Reader.

“The City has received requests from residents and bloggers to offer an RSS feed. This is another way for the City to provide a more transparent government through automation of information that can be distributed to hundreds of different websites, both locally and worldwide,” explained Darren Hernandez, Administrative Services Director for the City of Santa Clarita.

To subscribe to the RSS feeds go to www.santa-clarita.com/rss. For more information, contact City Technology Services Manager Kevin Tonoian at (661) 286-4027.
