CITY PLANTS FIRST PHASE OF EXTREME NEIGHBORHOOD MAKEOVER

On Saturday, August 2nd beginning at 9:00 a.m. the City of Santa Clarita will begin implementing the first phase of the “Extreme Neighborhood Makeover” program by planting numerous trees in the Canyon Country area. There are thirty locations in Canyon Country, along the streets of Nearbrook and Wellheaven, where the tree planting will take place. Numerous volunteers from the neighborhood will be participating in this beautification along with Urban Forestry staff and local cub-scouts.

This portion of the tree planting will be followed by a second tree planting scheduled for early September. The Extreme Neighborhood Makeover is a new City program that involves both the City and the community working together for neighborhood beautification and safety issues proactively.

For more information about the tree planting, please contact Robert Sartain, City Arborist Supervisor at (661) 294-2518. For more information about the City’s Extreme Neighborhood Makeover, please contact Cruz Caldera, City’s Community Preservation Officer at (661) 255-4322.
