SANTA CLARITA FIGHTS CRIME WITH THE ‘NATIONAL NIGHT OUT’

The City of Santa Clarita along with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station, will host a “National Night Out Against Crime” event at the Newhall Community Center on Tuesday, August 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. This year’s event will feature the Sheriff’s Posse, McGruff the Crime Dog, crafts, games, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station’s Search and Rescue Team, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and free child fingerprinting services. A variety of refreshments will also be provided to those attending.

“National Night Out Against Crime” has been sponsored for the last twenty-five years by the National Association of Town Watch. It is a nationwide event in which over eleven-thousand communities participate to promote community safety.

“National Night Out gives residents an opportunity to come together and make the statement against crime in the City of Santa Clarita,” said Mayor Bob Kellar.

The “National Night Out Against Crime” event heightens crime and drug prevention awareness, generates support for local crime prevention efforts and programs, and sends a message that our neighborhoods and residents are organized and vigilant.

Newhall Community Center is located at 22421 Market Street, Newhall. For additional information regarding the event, contact Deputy Laurie Baylis at (661) 799-5164 or Sergeant Gregg Lewison at (661) 799-5158.
