Today, marks the begining of a new transportation contract for City of Santa Clarita Transit. In July, the Santa Clarita City Council awarded a three-year, $51.7 million contract for the first time to MV Transportation, Inc. to manage, operate, and maintain the City's Transit services. Passengers will not be affected by the operation changeover.
“The award of MV Transportation is a great step in meeting the growing demand for the City of Santa Clarita Transit,” commented Jeff O’Keefe, City Transit Manager. “MV Transportation is committed to providing superior transportation service to the City’s customers and accommodating riders needs by allowing passengers to travel with ease to their destination.”
Under the terms of this three‐year contract with seven one‐year renewal options, MV will operate the City’s commuter, fixed‐route, dial‐a‐ride and ASI transit services. Also, MV will be responsible for maintaining a mixed fleet of 99 buses, including CNG, diesel and gasoline vehicles.
Based in Fairfield, California, MV is the largest private provider of paratransit services and the largest privately‐owned transportation contracting firm in the United States. The company employs more than 11,000 dedicated transit professionals and operates more than 180 paratransit, fixed‐route, shuttle and Medicaid contracts in 24 states.
“This is a very exciting project for MV,” said Kevin Klika, President of MV’s West Coast Operations. “The City is moving forward with several innovative and technological advances to their transit services, and MV’s unique expertise in this area will certainly complement those efforts.”
