Featured Artists Create Masterpieces Along City’s Main Street

This weekend the City of Santa Clarita will be hosting the colorful Street Art Festival on Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th. This exciting cultural festival, set to run from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, will be located in the heart of Old Town Newhall on Main Street. The Street Art Festival is a free outdoor event, open to the public.

All weekend long those attending the Street Art Festival will have the chance to watch street painters create their works of art, in real time, from the beginning when they begin their outlines until when the final masterpieces are completed. The inspired creations that the talented artists create along the City’s Main Street will feature a variety of renditions of famous artistic masterpieces as well as numerous original creations.

This year the Street Art Festival will highlight many additional art forms ranging from sculptures to graphic design and poster art to henna and tattooing to traditional paintings. Visitors will have the chance to speak directly with the artists about their work. The Street Art Festival will also feature international dance performances from cultures representing Irish, West African, Polynesian, and Hispanic descent.

Festival goers will also have the opportunity to fashion their own “Crazy Hat,” watch short films, compliments of Santa Clarita Valley Film Festival, and try their hand at a temporary pastel art masterpiece at the 4th annual Street Art Festival.

Free parking will be available at the Newhall Community Center located at 22421 Market Street, and the William S. Hart Museum, located at 24151 San Fernando Road.
