At their regularly scheduled meeting of the Orangeline Maglev Development Authority on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Councilmember Marsha McLean to the position of Vice Chair for the authority for 2009.
Cerritos Mayor Pro-tem Bruce Barrows was selected as Chairman and Vernon City Councilmember Michael McCormick was selected to serve as the Authority’s Treasurer for next year.
“I am pleased to have been selected as Vice Chair for the Orangeline Maglev Development Authority. Bringing this fast, convenient and environmentally sensitive mass transit project to Southern California is an incredible investment in our future mobility as a region,” commented Councilmember McLean.
The Orangeline Maglev Development Authority is a joint powers agency (JPA) consisting of 14 cities seeking to pursue development and deployment of the magnetic levitation train technology in Southern California.
The 14 JPA members include the cities of: Artesia, Bell, Bellflower, Cerritos, Cudahy, Downey, Glendale, Huntington Park, Maywood, Palmdale, Paramount, Santa Clarita, South Gate and Vernon.
