CITY SPONSORS ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE FOR SCV FOOD PANTRY
Non-Perishable Donation Locations Available at Five City Facilities

The City of Santa Clarita is sponsoring its second annual Food Drive, benefitting the SCV Food Pantry. During the entire month of September, Santa Clarita residents are invited to drop off non-perishable food items to designated locations across the City to be donated directly to the SCV Food Pantry.

Collection bins for non-perishable food donations will be set up at five City facilities: City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard; the City’s Sports Complex, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway; the City’s Transit Maintenance Facility, located at 28250 Constellation Road; Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road and the City’s Corporate Yard, located at 25663 Avenue Stanford.

“September is Hunger Action Month and the City of Santa Clarita is partnering with the SCV Food Pantry to help get the word out and provide more drop-off locations for the Summer Food Drive,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “No child should go to bed hungry and community members’ non-perishable donations will assist the SCV Food Pantry to help keep those less fortunate in the Santa Clarita Valley from going hungry.”

Non-perishable items may also be directly donated to the SCV Food Pantry, located at 24133 Railroad Avenue. Donations will be accepted during business hours of 9 a.m. – noon from Monday through Thursday and the third Friday of every month.

The Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry has been distributing food to low-income residents of the Santa Clarita Valley since 1986. It relies on donations from the community to provide supplemental food on a short-term basis to qualified, local residents. More than 900 local seniors receive food throught he Food Pantry’s Senior Outreach Program and, in 2008, the organization distributed supplemental food to more than 5,500 Santa Clarita Valley residents, more than 2,000 of them children.
