The City of Santa Clarita invites community members to participate in Photo Friday- a Twitter Contest sponsored by the Santa Clarita Valley Tourism Bureau. The contest, running through October, gives City Twitter followers the opportunity to submit their favorite snapshots of the Santa Clarita Valley via Twitter for the chance to win a Grand Prize- a Flip MinoHD camcorder.
To enter, participants upload a favorite Santa Clarita snapshot and send it to @SantaClarita on Twitter at specified times during the contest. Photos of Sunday afternoons in the City, softball games at City parks, tee times at local golf courses, cycling trips on trails, nights out with friends at local restaurants and more are all eligible for the contest.
“The City’s Photo Friday Twitter contest is a great way for community members and Santa Clarita visitors to embrace social networking as a means of communicating with the City,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “The Flip MinoHD camcorder will provide the winning contest applicant with a new and exciting way to capture memories across the City.”
Photos can be submitted from cell phones via online photo hosting sources such as twitpic.com, or via links to photos posted online. All snapshots submitted to @SantaClarita on Twitter will be reviewed, narrowed down to a Top 10 and featured on the City’s Tourism website- VisitSantaClarita.com. The contest winner will be announced at the end of the contest on Tuesday, November 3.
Participants currently not following the City on Twitter can log on to Twitter.com/SantaClarita and click “follow.” Those following the City on Twitter will be eligible to submit photos for the Photo Friday contest, in addition to receiving frequent updates on all things Santa Clarita related.
