CITY’S GREEN WEBSITE SEES PROMISING FIRST QUARTER PERFORMANCE RESULTS

The City of Santa Clarita’s green website, GreenSantaClarita.com, is off to a great start, with an average of 1,000 views a month during its first quarter. In addition to featuring expanded and updated content, the site has seen nearly 3,000 page views by individuals in more than 13 different countries since it went live in July, 2009.

Since its launch, the City added ten pages of new content to the site, including a green store and Community Calendar section. The site’s green store also features a Green Vehicle Finder, with links to local dealerships selling environmentally friendly cars, as well as a list of local solar retailers, links to online bus pass purchasing, an Alternative Fuel Station Finder and more.

“Greensantaclarita.com’s first quarter performance helps to solidify the site as a viable resource to community members, local builders and businesses looking to commit to more environmentally friendly practices,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “It also shows community members how to go “green” in their everyday lives, with links to a host of local retailers and organizations dedicated to establishing environmental stability and sustainability.”

The site’s new Community Calendar section features links to College of the Canyons sustainability classes and the Los Angeles Smart Gardening Program, information on nationally recognized Green Building certification courses, plus additional resources to help community members go green.

Greensantaclarita.com also proved to be a vital resource for local builders, with links to the City’s upcoming ePlans paperless plan submittal system, information on the new California Building Code and more.

Protecting the environment is a high priority for the City of Santa Clarita. Efforts toward preservation began shortly after cityhood and have yielded tremendous results, including the City’s new “green” website. Launched in July, 2009, GreenSantaClarita.com is dedicated to providing community members, local builders and businesses with current and relevant information and important “green” resources.
