KICK THE HABIT OF USING PLASTIC BAGS WITH ‘BRAG ABOUT YOUR BAG’ EVENT

The City of Santa Clarita invites community members to participate in Los Angeles County’s “Brag About Your Bag” initiative. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, residents can bring five single use bags to the Albertson’s Grocery Store located at 27631 Bouquet Canyon Road to be entered to win great prizes and receive a free reusable bag.

Brag About Your Bag is designed to encourage community members to recycle and utilize reusable bags in place of single use plastic bags. Plastic bags turned in as part of the program will be used to help campaign spokesperson and L.A. Laker Luke Walton build the world’s biggest ball made of plastic bags, and then recycled.

“Plastic bags can litter our neighborhoods, clutter landfills and harm our environment if they are not properly recycled, “said Councilmember Marsha McLean. “By participating in Brag About Your Bag, residents can take an active part in keeping the community and environment clean, while earning the chance to win fantastic prizes.”

Community members who bring five plastic bags to the participating Albertson’s Grocery Store will be eligible to win prizes, including lunch with NBA Champion Luke Walton, courtesy of 710ESPN. Two winners will also receive a trip to Miami, Fla., complete with hotel, airfare and $500 gift card, courtesy of Univision Radio’s KLOVE 107.5 FM and La Nueva 101.9 FM.

The Brag About Your Bag initiative is designed to help the County of Los Angeles, local cities, non-profits, and other entities educate the public about recycling and decrease the use of plastic bags.
