DAVE’S MARCH FOR JUSTICE RALLY SCHEDULED
Thousands Expected At Rally for Slain Deputy

On March 29, 2004, Deputy David March, a Santa Clarita resident, would have celebrated his 35th birthday. Sadly, Deputy March was gunned down by an illegal Mexican national and convicted drug dealer who was also wanted on two counts of attempted murder. The suspect then fled to Mexico to escape American justice. It was a routine traffic stop that turned out to be David March’s last. March leaves behind his parents, a wife and child; all of whom continue to mourn his death and fight for his justice.

In an effort to draw national attention and support for change to this ill-conceived policy and help bring about justice for David March and other victims suffering from lack of closure, a "Dave’s March For Justice Rally" will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Santa Clarita

The City of Santa Clarita is joined by the March family, Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich and Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca for the Rally.

In Southern California, more than 300 violent criminals have fled to Mexico in recent years. Authorities have identified more than a dozen cases in which illegal aliens were accused of injuring or killing a U.S. law enforcement officer but are believed to have fled to Mexico. David March’s case is not an isolated incident.

"While the extradition of Deputy March’s killer cannot bring back this wonderful man, we can remember David March and honor him by bringing his killer to justice. I feel very strongly about murderers of American citizens and perpetrators of violent crimes running free in Mexico and I would like to see them returned here for trial," commented Mayor Bob Kellar.

The Rally will begin at 10 a.m. but a special "March to the Rally," led by David’s mother Barbara March, from the College of the Canyons’ South Parking lot, will commence at 9:45 a.m. (Enter from Valencia Boulevard to Rockwell Canyon, turn into the parking lot at the traffic light).
