According to the latest Trends report by PKF Consulting, Santa Clarita ranked among the top five hotel markets in the Los Angeles area for May 2007 with an overall occupancy rate of 80.93 percent. Santa Clarita’s occupancy rate was ahead of other local destinations for the month, including Santa Monica at 80.43 percent and West Hollywood at 78.92 percent.
In the last year, two new hotel properties have opened in the Santa Clarita Valley, including the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Stevenson Ranch, which features 140 rooms, and the Courtyard by Marriott in Santa Clarita, which features 140 rooms. This has increased the available room inventory by 19 percent, from 1508 hotel rooms to 1788 hotel rooms. Even with these additional rooms, hotel occupancy rates continue to hold steady and increase, proving that Santa Clarita continues to be one of the Los Angeles area’s leading destinations.
“From thrilling theme parks and world-class events to a rich Western history, destination dining and shopping, Santa Clarita is one of Southern California’s most popular destinations because it features the very best our state has to offer,” commented Mayor Marsha McLean.
Prior to the opening of the La Quinta Inn & Suites and Courtyard by Marriot Santa Clarita, the Santa Clarita Valley offered approximately 1508 rooms. In May 2006 the occupancy rate was 84.82 percent with approximately 1279 rooms occupied. In May 2007 the occupancy rate was 80.93 with approximately 1447 rooms occupied, resulting in an increase in occupancy of approximately 168 more rooms in May 2007 than in May 2006.
