The City of Santa Clarita is proud to welcome back the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics to the City’s state-of-the-art Aquatics Center. Hosted by Canyons Aquatic Swim Club and supported by the City, this prestigious event will be held from Wednesday, August 1 through Sunday, August 5, 2207. Preliminaries are held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and finals are 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Junior Olympics will showcase some of the best swimming talent throughout California and the United States, bringing together more than 70 swim clubs in pursuit of the coveted Southern California Junior Olympic Championship title. More than 1,000 competitors will vie for a Junior Olympic gold medal in events ranging from 50 meter sprints to 1,500 meter long-distance races.
“We are thrilled to welcome back to the Santa Clarita Valley the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics,” said Santa Clarita Mayor, Marsha McLean. “The event, which celebrates the talent and commitment of Southern California’s young athletes, promises to be one of the largest swim events Santa Clarita has seen to date, attracting visitors from the San Fernando, Orange and San Diego counties.”
The Southern California Junior Olympics is the top age group swimming competition in the county featuring teams from all over the state as well as Las Vegas. Several of the top local high school swimmers will compete under the defending champion Canyons Aquatic banner against top swim programs in the country like Irvine Novaquatics.
