The mission of the Field Services Department is to preserve
and maintain efficient and aesthetically pleasing facilities,
infrastructure, and the urban forest for Santa Clarita's present
and future residents, businesses, and visitors. We ensure the
quality oversight, planning and management of the City's general
government, environmental services and transit facilities, infrastructure
and equipment, as well as our growing urban forest, with the
goal of enhancing the City's world class quality of life.
The Field Services Department is responsible for six divisions
that include Environmental Services, Facilities Maintenance,
Street Maintenance, Transit, Urban Forestry, and Vehicle Maintenance.
Facilities Maintenance maintains 10 facilities and transit lots.
Street Maintenance maintains over 800 lane miles within the City.
Transit Division staff oversees a contract for transit services
that includes commuter, Dial-a-Ride, and local service with
over 80 buses. Urban Forestry maintains 13,000 City
trees, and Vehicle Maintenance maintains over 200 vehicles,
including trailers as well as small and heavy equipment. Environmental
Services Division oversees environmental outreach programs that
include recycling, waste reduction, stormwater pollution and
prevention, and overall environmental sustainability. In addition,
this department provides 24 hour on-call service for emergencies.
Field Services must constantly be prepared to meet the needs
of this ever-growing City.
