Environmental Services: Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

All materials with warnings such as; Danger, Caution, or Hazard on the container are household hazardous wastes and cannot go in the trash.

The City offers free door-to-door collection of antifreeze, car batteries, motor oil and filters, and oil based and latex paints through Curbside, Inc. They can be reached at (800) HHW-PKUP.

The County of Los Angeles offers several free household hazardous waste roundups. Sponsored jointly by the Sanitation Districts and Los Angeles County, the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program gives Los Angeles County residents a legal and cost-free way to dispose of unwanted household chemicals that cannot be disposed of in the regular trash.

More information can be found at www.lacsd.org or www.888CleanLA.com. More general information on HHW can be found at the following website: http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/HHW/
