Learn about
the ecological importance of trees and how they contribute to our beautiful community. As part of the world-wide Arbor Day holiday, this event serves to educate residents about the benefits of trees in a fun, hands-on setting.
The City of Santa Clarita, along with sponsor agencies, will give away 1,000 trees, 1,000 bags of mulch and 1,000 energy saving compact flourcent light bulbs - FREE! In addition, a garden compost bin will be given to the first ten people to sign up and attend the compost workshop.
Festivities include live entertainment, food vendors, tree planting activities, children’s events, educational workshops, and many environmental exhibitors.
The wide variety of children's activities
will include Color Me Mine "paint-it-yourself" ceramic studio, the City of Santa Clarita Park Mobile, a large slide, “moon bounce”, rock climbing wall, crafts, and Fingerprinting for Kids provided by the SCV Optimist group.
Food vendors will include Route 66 Classic Grill, Jamba Juice and Bon Gusto.
A series of educational seminars will cover topics such as; Do-it-yourself composting, proper tree pruning, water-wise gardening, brush clearance and fire safety.
