Current Projects

Several bicycle and pedestrian-related projects are already planned for construction in 2007:

Lost Canyon River Park – construction spring 2008
The project will provide trailhead improvements at the current terminus of the Santa Clara River Trail.

Sand Canyon Trail Phase II – IN CONSTRUCTION
The project will construct a trail along Sand Canyon Road from Live Oak Springs Road northerly toward Road Runner Street.

Cross Valley Connector Gap Closure – PROJECT COMPLETE!
This project will extend Newhall Ranch Road from Copper Hill Drive to Interstate 5. Among the items that this eight-lane roadway will include is a Class I bicycle path.

Cross Valley Connector Gap Closure Extension – IN CONSTRUCTION
This project will extend Copper Hill Drive to Avenue Tibbits. Among the items that this eight-lane roadway will include is a Class I bicycle path.

Golden Valley Road Bridge over Santa Clara River Project – in design
This project will construct a bridge over the Santa Clara River. Included in these improvements will be a Class I bicycle path.

Pedestrian Enhancements – PROJECT COMPLETE!
The project will focus on pedestrian improvements at several locations throughout the City. Improvements include removing portions of median islands that obstruct crosswalks and reconstruction of non-standard pedestrian ramps. In addition there will be upgrades to pedestrian crossing push buttons which will benefit the needs of pedestrians such as senior citizens and/or the visually challenged.

San Fernando Road Pedestrian Facilities – construction winter 2008
This project will provide a pedestrian pathway along San Fernando Road across the Metrolink rail line that will be ADA acceptable. There will also be a supplemental warning device that will be installed to prevent pedestrians from entering the railroad track area during rail line traffic times.

Santa Clara River Commuter Trail Segment I – construction winter 2008
This project will provide the westerly phase of the Santa Clara Commuter Trail, extending from Anza Drive to Interstate 5.

Santa Clara River Commuter Trail Segment V – design winter 2008
This project will design the final link of the 7-mile Commuter Trail connecting the future Discovery Park to the future Keystone Development, and connecting with the existing Canyon View Trail.
