Neighborhood Watch

The Neighborhood Watch Program is a working network of concerned and proactive citizens throughout the Valley. Meetings are conducted in neighborhoods to establish an effective crime prevention plan. Each neighborhood in the program has developed relationships both within themselves and with Law Enforcement to protect themselves against crime. If you are interested in beginning or joining a neighborhood watch program in your area, please telephone Deputy Elliot at (661) 255-1121 or send her an E-MAIL at this address: comrel@scvsheriff.com

Business Watch

Similar to the Neighborhood Watch Program, the Business Watch program is compiled of proactive business owners throughout the Valley. Information exchange between the Sheriff's Department and local business owners includes current crime trends, theft prevention information, forgery prevention and building security. If you are interested in Business Watch, contact Deputy Donna Elliot at (661) 255-1121 or send her an E-MAIL at this address: comrel@scvsheriff.com

Safe House Program

The Safe House program is designed for residents are home during the school travel hours. These residents act as "Safe Houses" if children need help on the way to or from school. Volunteers are needed to offer their homes and their time as "Safe Houses." If you are interested in this program, call Deputy Donna Elliot at (661) 255-1121 or send her an E-MAIL at this address: comrel@scvsheriff.com

Vacation Security

Vacation is a time for fun and relaxation. Don't let yours be ruined by crime. Before leaving your home, follow the following tips:

  • Have good locks on the doors and windows, and USE THEM!
  • Engrave your valuables with your California driver's license number (Preceded by CA) and post "Operation ID" stickers in entry doors and windows.
  • Never leave your house key hidden outside under a doormat, in a flower pot or on the ledge of a door.
  • Make sure your house appears "Lived in." Use timers for lights and radios. Have a neighbor or friend pick up mail, packages and newspapers. Keep the lawn mowed and watered.
  • Leave trip plans and an emergency phone number with trusted neighbors or friends.

Crime Prevention

The Community Relations Deputies conduct numerous meetings throughout the valley annually to educate the public in crime prevention. These Deputies meet regularly with the COBRA Deputies and other station personnel and are updated in the latest crime trends. Among the subjects they speak about are Gang Information, Personal Safety, Vehicle Security and Teen and Parent Survival. If you are interested in any of the subjects mentioned above, or would like a meeting scheduled in your area, please contact Deputy Rissler at (661) 255-1121 or send him an E-MAIL parissle@lasd.org

COMMUNITY PRESERVATION

CODE ENFORCEMENT

Maintaining and preserving the integrity of our neighborhoods benefits everyone in the community. Residential and commercial buildings that are poorly maintained or improperly constructed can lower property values, negatively impact community pride, and contribute to crime as well as to an increase health and safety problems. The City’s Community Preservation Division is an excellent resource to help address property related issues in your neighborhood. Click on the link below to learn more.

Pride Committee Volunteer

The Pride Committee is a group of dedicated community volunteers who eradicate graffiti on a regular basis. The program has proven to be one of the most effective programs in the City. The success is a result of collaboration between volunteers, the Sheriff’s Department, and City staff.

Teens Against Graffiti (TAG)

TAG is for youth, ages 13-18 years old, who want to help with graffiti removal in the City of Santa Clarita . School, youth, or church groups, and individuals may participate on the third Saturday of every month by painting locations that are high targets for graffiti. These locations include washes, alley ways, and neighborhoods. The program allows youth to take pride in their community and enables teens to make a positive difference in the quality of life in Santa Clarita.

Graffiti is a crime and affects the quality of life in our community!

You can make a difference!
