The City of Santa Clarita has extended the deadline for business owners looking to participate in a new program called “Sign Up and Save” that encourages Santa Clarita Public Library card holders to shop local this September by showing their library card to receive special discounts and incentives.
In just a week, the City has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the business community and has extended the deadline for business owners to sign up for the promotion to Friday, August 24, 2012. The first 50 businesses to respond will be included on printed pieces about the promotion, while all others will be included on a special page detailing the “Sign Up and Save” program and participating businesses at SantaClaritaLibrary.com.
“The business community has been supportive of the program and its concept and we are excited to extend the entry deadline to allow even greater participation,” said City of Santa Clarita Mayor Frank Ferry.
The City initiated the “Sign Up and Save” program in honor of the opening of the new Old Town Newhall Library on September 29, 2012 and September’s National Library Card Sign Up Month. The program encourages community members to sign up for a Library Card, if not already a cardholder, in order to enjoy savings at local retailers throughout the month of September (September 1-30, 2012).
Business owners who register to participate in the promotion will receive free publicity of their retail store in exchange for providing discounts to library card holders. The City hopes the partnership will promote interest in library programs, generate sales, and increase traffic to retail businesses. Business owners interested in signing up for the promotion should visit Santa-Clarita.com or SantaClaritaLibrary.com for a registration form.
