Have you taken some great photos in and around Santa Clarita that you want to share with the community? If so, there is still time to submit your favorite snapshots in the City of Santa Clarita¡¯s quarterly photo contest. The summer contest is currently underway, and new submissions must be received by June 30, 2012 to qualify for a variety of cash prizes.
¡°Community photographers are encouraged to submit pictures that showcase fun activities residents enjoy in Santa Clarita,¡± says Mayor Frank Ferry. ¡°Whether it¡¯s hiking, a stroll along your favorite street, a visit to the Aquatics Center, or picnicking at a local park, the City is always looking for photos that depict the high quality of life in Santa Clarita through the eyes of our own residents,¡± he continued.
Photo submissions must represent events, activities, nature, or daily life in Santa Clarita. The photo contest is broken into six submission categories including: environment, architecture, people portraits, community life, altered images with artistic value, and photographs illustrating community issues. Regardless of skill level, all community members are encouraged to submit photos.
Winning photographs will be displayed online at Santa-Clarita.com and in City publications such as Seasons Magazine. Winning photographers will receive photo credit as well as cash prizes. First place photographers win $300, second
place will win $150, and third place will win $50. City staff will judge photographs based on best representation within each category.
Participants must first join the Santa Clarita Photo contest group for free at http://bit.ly/scphoto. All photos are to be submitted to the Santa Clarita Photo Contest Flickr group.
The third quarter¡¯s photo competition begins on July 1, 2012, with final submissions due September 30, 2012.
