MAGIC MOUNTAIN PARKWAY / I-5 INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS

The City of Santa Clarita, in conjunction with Newhall Land, Metro, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the County of Los Angeles, are currently constructing freeway interchange improvements at Magic Mountain Parkway/ I-5 interchange and realignment of The Old Road in the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles.

Ramp and street closures will take place throughout construction. These closures will also periodically involve the I-5 mainline lanes. Signs and detours are posted to assist motorists. In addition, press release updates on closures will be distributed to the media, chambers of commerce, and cities within the construction area – as well as posted on the City website (noted below) to keep the public informed as work progresses. Construction dates and closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

The California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department will assist with traffic management when necessary.

The City and Caltrans are aware of concerns regarding nighttime noise during construction and will do everything possible to keep the noise to a minimum.

CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE: Start of construction is July 2006 and estimated completion is December 2009. Construction is 50 percent complete.

PROJECT BENEFITS: This interchange improvement project will improve mobility, enhance safety, help alleviate congestion, and greatly increase capacity of the interchange and local roadways.
