High Speed Rail Map

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) Project is a high-speed rail system approved by voters in 2008. The estimated $64 billion project will initially connect from San Francisco to Los Angeles at speeds up to 200 miles an hour.

In 2012, the CHSRA Board of Directors designated two alignments through Santa Clarita. In 2014, the CHSRA Board, in response to a request from the City Council, refined the alignments to be studied eliminating one of the two proposed surface alignments and including an extension of the tunnel under neighborhoods in eastern Santa Clarita. In March 2016, CHSRA staff announced a further realignment of the proposed alignments, significantly altering the routes as they impact Santa Clarita. Please click on the map below to see the alignments that are currently under review.

New Routes

HSR Map Temp Thumbnail
In addition to a revised SR 14 route at the eastern edge of Santa Clarita, the California High-Speed Rail Authority is currently looking at two potential alignments within the East Corridor, providing a more direct route between proposed high-speed rail stations in Palmdale and Burbank. The East Corridor alignments propose to tunnel under the Angeles National Forest. The maps to the right, prepared by CHSRA, display the adjusted alignments in relation to the City of Santa Clarita.
