THURSDAYS@NEWHALL KICKS OFF JUNE EVENTS TONIGHT ON MAIN STREET
Free Happenings Featuring local performers, Japanese Festival Dance, Rockabilly culture and More
The City of Santa Clarita’s Thursdays@Newhall series, sponsored by Galpin Subaru, will kick off June with a sensational lineup of free live performances, talks, activities and more on Main Street in Old Town Newhall.
From 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on June 2, JAM Sessions, hosted by the Ford Theatre Foundation, will bring dancing and live performances to the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. The June JAM Session will feature the beauty and grace of Japanese festival dancing with Christine Inouye. At 8:00 p.m. residents can practice their moves during a live concert from Kimo Cornwell & June Kuramoto, of fusion jazz band Hiroshima.
Meanwhile at the Repertory East Playhouse, located at 24266 Main Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., performers will take the stage for ten minutes each and share their live theatre pieces, dances, monologues or music at 10 by 10. Performers and filmmakers include The New Mexican, Travina Springer, Doug and Rich, Doug Bass, Alex Alexander, Jeff Johnson, Nicky Hawthorne, Miranda Sajdak, Liam Johnson, Isadora O’Boto and Chris Mack.
From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on June 9, the Revved Up car show, sponsored by State Farm, will feature Mustangs. Residents can enjoy a live band, food trucks and adult beverages provided by Persia Lounge. Local residents interested in submitting an automobile for Revved Up can apply online.
Also on June 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., local songwriters will perform their original work at Note by Note in the Newhall Refinery, located at 24258 Main Street. Performers interested in Note by Note can apply online.
SENSES will rock Main Street from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on June 16 with a Rockabilly block party. Residents can rock the vintage look with pompadours, rockin’ bangs, polka dots and leather jackets while enjoying the rockabilly music from Hard Six and Three Bad Jacks.
Thursdays@Newhall’s June events conclude with the SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series and ARTree Speaker Series on June 23. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the ARTree Speaker Series, presented in partnership with the CalArts Community Arts Partnership and the City of Santa Clarita, will take place at the Old Town Newhall Library. At 7:00 p.m. at the Repertory East Playhouse, SCVTV presents the OutWest Concert Series will host Cowboy Balladeer Tom Hiatt. Interested attendees can buy their tickets here.
