White Ribbons Around Town – A Solemn Reminder to Drive Safe
Ribbons to Be Placed Throughout Santa Clarita
As you drive through Santa Clarita next week, you will notice large white ribbons tied to traffic poles, streetlights and trees. The ribbons will be placed at intersections where drivers tend to speed and not follow safe driving practices. Some of them will be hung at locations where people have lost their lives in traffic accidents.
These white ribbons are part of the City’s ongoing campaign to encourage safe driving and remind drivers, especially new drivers, of the dangers of speeding and distracted driving. The ribbons will be up for one week, coinciding with the annual Evening of Remembrance event, which takes place at the Youth Grove in Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Road) on Wednesday, September 6 at 6:45 p.m. The Evening of Remembrance honors youth ages 24 and under who are victims of fatal crashes in Santa Clarita.
Each spring, graduating seniors at high schools throughout Santa Clarita receive a white ribbon to wear at commencement. The ribbons are worn to remind graduates to drive responsibly as they celebrate their graduation. The large white ribbons throughout the City will serve as a reminder to make the choice to drive safe every time you get behind the wheel.
