City Launches New Public Art Tour App
Take a Self-Guided Tour of the City’s Public Art
It’s now easier than ever to explore public art in your own backyard with the City of Santa Clarita’s new Santa Clarita Public Art Tour App. As long as you can log online on your digital device, you’ll be able to take advantage of a free self-guided tour of over 40 public art pieces located within the City of Santa Clarita.
The app is available for Android devices in the Google Play store. Simply search for “Santa Clarita Public Art Tour.” iOS devices and other software systems will need to use the mobile-friendly website located at https://scpublicart.goodbarber.com. More information on the app and download instructions can be found at SantaClaritaArts.com.
Art pieces include sculptures, paintings and murals located in public areas of the City. Examples include the “Crossroads” steel sculpture at the Iron Horse Trailhead and the “A City of Golden Dreams” mural at City Hall which depicts the historical events, locations and citizens that helped shape the backbone of the Santa Clarita community. Learn the story behind each art piece, including who the artist is, what material was used to create the artwork and a description of each piece. The app also includes a convenient map and directions to each art piece.
October is ARTober in Santa Clarita, a month-long celebration of the arts and humanities and a perfect time to use the app to explore art in your community. To learn more about the month-long celebration of the arts in the city, please visit SantaClaritaArts.com/Artober.
