City to Offer Reward for Tips on Illegal Fireworks
With New Year’s Eve just a few weeks away, the City of Santa Clarita is offering a cash reward up to $500, in the hopes that someone will come forth with valuable information that may lead to the citation(s) of the person or persons responsible for illegal firework activity in the City. Residents are encouraged to provide their tip by calling the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.
Each year the City works closely with the local sheriff's station to ensure additional staffing is in place to crack down on illegal firework activity and educate the community on the potential dangers related to illegal firework activity. These strategies and actions are typically implemented around the Fourth of July and New Year holidays when firework activity is most likely to occur.
For the purpose of this specific crime, illegal firework activity, the reward(s) will be distributed only to those who provide information which leads to the successful citation of the individual(s) committing the crime. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station will notify the City should a citation be written wherein the citation was issued with the help of community member(s) who contributed information leading to the arrest. The contributor(s) will then be eligible to collect their reward. In the event there are multiple contributors of information, the reward amount will be divided by the City in the manner it shall deem appropriate.
