Tick Fire Local Assistance Center to Open Wednesday

Post Date:10/28/2019

Access to Resources and Support for Residents Affected by the Blaze

The City of Santa Clarita, in partnership with the County of Los Angeles, will open a Local Assistance Center (LAC) for residents affected by the Tick Fire. The LAC will be located at The Centre, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, and will open this Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.

“By working with our partners at Los Angeles County, we are able to bring in the organizations that our affected residents need at this time,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “I urge anyone who requires assistance following this destructive fire to take advantage of the Local Assistance Center. Some of the organizations who will be taking part include the City of Santa Clarita, the Red Cross, the L.A. County Office of the Assessor, Public Works, the Departments of Mental Health and Public Health, the Department of Motor Vehicles, Animal Care and Control and many more.”

LAC services are free to any member of the public – no identification or documentation is needed to access help. Bilingual support will be available on-site, as well as support for those who have disabilities, access or functional needs.

“The Tick Fire forced the largest evacuation of residents in our City’s history,” said City Manager Ken Striplin. “With nearly two dozen homes destroyed within the City limits and several others throughout the area, we want to ensure that all residents of the Santa Clarita Valley have access to the support, resources and information they need to recover and rebuild.”

The following are examples of the type of help available:

• Information on property clean-up, repair and rebuilding

• Filing insurance claims

• Replacing records lost during the wildfire, such as driver’s licenses and vehicle

The LAC’s planned hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily, Wednesday, October 30, 2019, through Monday, November 4, 2019. For more information on the recovery efforts from the Tick Fire, please visit
