CHAMPS is a free boxing program for at-risk youth ages 13-19 that develops character, courage, and self-discipline. Experienced coaches teach basic boxing mechanics including stance, footwork, punching combinations, and sparring. Trained outreach staff provide resources and support to participants to assist them with their education, life skills, leadership, employability and emotional health.

WHO does this program serve?

The program was designed for struggling teens who need a new direction in life (i.e. recovering from addiction, on probation, in the DCFS or foster care system, have academic difficulties, graffiti vandals, behavioral issues, have gang affiliation or potential, or are hanging out with the wrong crowd).

HOW do YOU join?

Please fill out the attached universal membership form and bring it to the Newhall Community Center to register for the program. 18 years and older do not require a parent signature but are still required to fill out the universal membership form.  For more information, call Cynthia Muir at (661) 290-2294.
