The Newhall Community Center Strings program is taught by professional violinist, La Vern Antoine. Ms. La Verne is an accomplished violinist who provides outstanding musical instructions to children, 7 to 18 years of age.
Offerings range from Introduction, Beginning Strings, Level I and Level II.
For the first time student. Learn how to handle the violin and bow. This class is a pre-requisite for Strings Beginning.
Learn how to read and play notes on the D and A strings. Students must be able to hold the violin properly and know how to use the bow. Strings Introduction class must have been taken before enrolling in Strings Beginning.
Strings Level I
Students must have proficiency in handling the violin and bow, and reading and playing on the D and A strings. Students will learn simple rhythms and will learn to play and read notes on all strings
Strings Level II
Must have instructor approval to enroll. Must be proficient in handling the instrument and bow. Must be proficient in reading notes and playing all strings. Students will learn advanced rhythms and may perform in a recital.
Students will be required to purchase or rent violins, plus book and supplies. The Newhall Community Center does not have violins for rent.
