Five-hundred and three participants attended the event and enjoyed pumpkin decorating and costume contest, trick or treating, a giant inflatable outdoor maze, carnival games, and a haunted house full of scary clowns organized by the Center’s iTEENS program participants. The SCV Sunrise Rotary Club donated 450 pumpkins for the event and the Salvation Army supplied prizes for children who participated in the pumpkin decorating and costume contests.

Thanksgiving Community Dinner

The Newhall Community Center hosted the 19th Annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner, sponsored for the 11th time by Parkway Motorcars.  Parkway employees, Triumph Corporation volunteers, and Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Commissioners Boone, Levinson, Lindenheim, Mayor Weste and Councilmember Smyth and Miranda served 546 guests. Families enjoyed a full holiday dinner including turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and delicious pumpkin pie. Entertainment was provided by Senior Center choir Director John Swinford, who played the piano. Ten iTEENS program participants were also on hand to help seniors with their plates, serve coffee, and wish all who attended a Happy Thanksgiving!

Jingle Bell Jamboree

On Friday, December 14, five-hundred and five people attended the first annual Jingle Bell Jamboree at the Newhall Community Center.  The evening included arts and crafts with youth decorating holiday ornaments, traditional Christmas dances performed by Newhall Community Center Ballet Folklórico, along with several songs played by the Center’s Strings Class program participants.  Families also received a picture with Santa Claus, enjoyed cookies and hot cocoa, and the LA County Sheriff’s Department donated and raffled off bikes, scooters, and toys at the event.
